Written : April 2005 – August 2006

This is the second song written about Lola. On St Valentines day one year after we had been together, she announced that she thought I could hurt her. We had an argument of sorts and we split up that night.

3 months after the break, I was at another house I had at the time and it was raining very heavily. The pain was still there – very much so. Again with trusty acoustic in hand I started playing around with an A Chord and came out with what is now the intro arpeggio.

The song was actually written over three distinct periods over the period of a year. The first verse was written that night in May.

6 months later whilst back at my house in Piles I went for a walk along the beach (a very rare occurrence in spite of living so close to it) and the second verse came out of it.

The final verse was written 5 months afterwards more than one year after the initial break up.

There is a lot of feeling in the song and the feelings expressed were very raw at the time.

The song was played live for the first time in January 2009 with a band whilst playing for the Chinese New year in a local Chinese Restaurant. It was a very different beast to the recorded version, and it was this event (and the excellent audience reaction) that made me realise that the music would be best if played by a band with different musicians playing their part and giving four (or five) lots of passion.
