about
Written : June 2007
I wrote the song “Dance With Me” and my then girlfriend, Lola, complained that I hadn’t written a song about her.
Crazy Lady was an attempt to redress the balance. It was my thoughts to her basically saying that although I wasn’t always calling her every hour of every day, was not always saying how much I cared etc, that in fact it didn’t mean I didn’t, just there were reasons why not.
The title is very apt as she is a crazy lady (in the nicest possible way of course) and anyone who knows her cannot help but be affected.
The progress of the song starts from a deep melancholic beginning, which symbolises the deep thought that often went on when I was with her (you try speaking to someone in a language that isn’t your own). The second part of the verse then uplifts, this is a kind of happy phase. The chorus lifts into another level, it is not only upbeat but shifts into a more rocky feeling.
Finally the refrain and lead solo are a challenge and response and moves up yet another gear.
The original version was written on the acoustic guitar. When I re recorded it so that it was as it is in its current guise, the first time Lola heard it she was quite literally blown away (on account of the fact that my studio speakers were turned up very high). Nonetheless she loved it,
The song was one of three played during a “Desert Island Disc” session with me on Radio Culture Channel based in Hanover. It was a popular choice among the listeners
Crazy Lady has recently been re recorded and is now very much influenced by Pink Floyd and The Eagles which is evident in the lead intro and the harmonising vocals. Working with renowned producer John Robinson, brought out the best of the vocals and there are some great vocal licks which keep the song rolling along right to the very end. Performed live, the refrain at the end becomes a bit of a jam session with lots of energy and activity – well worth watching.

Lyrics
Verse 1
Sometimes– you look for something that’s not there
The harder you look the more the cupboard turns out bare
I saw you one day you gave me your warm smile
We talked and got to know each other I realised in a while
We were meant for one another I could see it in your smile
Verse 2
If Sometimes I’m distracted –It seems I'm not there
I don’t call that often – it doesn’t mean I don’t care
I want to tell you how I’m feeling, inside me I feel scared
And the moment that I’m with you, my fears just run a mile
I know you feel the same way too I can see it in your smile
Chorus
You’re my crazy lady –crazy Bout you
You’re My Crazy Lady – I know you feel it to
You're my crazy Lady – Yeah Yeah Yeah
You're my crazy Lady – Yeah Yeah Yeah
I wanna make you mine mine mine
And be with you all the time time time - All the time
Verse 3
The sun sets on the mountain I’m Watching the blue sky
the colours of the rainbow, Reflected in your eyes
the world just keeps on turning, it makes me realise
You make the world a better place You make it all worthwhile
I know you feel the same way too I can see it in your smile
Chorus
You’re my crazy lady –crazy Bout you
You’re My Crazy Lady – I know you feel it to
You're my crazy Lady – Yeah Yeah Yeah
You're my crazy Lady – Yeah Yeah Yeah
I wanna make you mine mine mine
And be with you all the time time time - All the time
Refrain
Crazy – For my crazy Lady
Crazy – Over You
Crazy – For my crazy Lady
Crazy – Bout the things that you do
Crazy – For my crazy Lady
Crazy – Over You
Crazy – For my crazy Lady
Crazy – Bout the things that you do
Verse 4
Sometimes– you look for something that’s not there
And the harder that you look the more the cupboard turns out bare
if you look a little harder you will see her standing there
